Easy Ways to Maintain an American Kitchen Faucet

American Kitchen Faucet

Many people expect that when they buy an American kitchen faucet, it will serve them for a very long time because it was designed in such a way that it will have a long-lasting endurance.  But this perception can be realized only if you take care of your kitchen fixture in such a way that it can be preserved for longer use.

Any kind of equipment or fixture needs proper care and maintenance to keep it working for a longer duration of time.  If you buy the American standard faucet, you can be sure that you have chosen the right fixture for your kitchen because of its modern style and durability.  It is made in such a way that you can repair it easily without the need of hiring a plumber to do the job.

This faucet comes in different designs but all these designs have the same methods of repairing a leak once this problem occurs.  The cartridge type of an American kitchen faucet develops leaks when the O-ring rubber located beneath the faucet is destroyed.   You can immediately repair the leak in an easy way to stop the dripping water and avoid wasting it.

You just need a repair kit which includes an O-ring rubber and plumber's grease, as well as a wrench and a flat-head screwdriver tool to do the job.  First, look for the 2 water supply valves used for shutting-off the supply of water completely.  These oval-shaped valves may be located under the sink.

Then, remove the index cap above the handle of the faucet by using the screwdriver, and loosen the screw on top.  Remove the destroyed faucet valve from the faucet assembly and replace it with a new one.  Be sure to apply small amount of plumber’s grease on the new O-ring rubber before installing it.  Then, reassemble the American kitchen faucet for another round of use.
